The first day of school is Monday, August 31st at 9:05am. On Thursday or Friday of August 27 & August 28 parents will receive a phone call from your child’s teacher. The teacher will tell you where to meet on Monday or Tuesday morning (for the Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten class). If, for some reason, you did not receive a call, please see Ms. Gwen at the table outside between the playgrounds and she will help you find your child’s teacher.
For students arriving on the bus, we have staff who will help them find their teacher. For younger students, especially those new to the school, we would appreciate you placing your child’s name somewhere visible as sometimes it is difficult for children to share their information with us on the first day.
We ask that our students have a backpack, a lunch and snacks, a water bottle and a pair of shoes to be kept indoors. Indoor shoes are required for our older students as well. We also encourage our Kindergarten and Grade 1 students to have a change of clothes in their backpack.
Our bell times are Monday to Thursday 9:05am – 3:40pm and Friday from 9:05am to 1:00pm. Lunchtime is from 12:05 to 12:50pm.
Each Friday you will receive an “AFS Weekly Message” email that explains some student activities and achievements over the course of the week as well as information and reminders for the following week.
We hope to meet you at our Meet the Teacher evening on Thursday, September 17.
