Dear AFS Families,
This week our grade 6 students were baking! They learned how to work with fractions and ratios in order to follow a recipe. Guess what? They turned out beautifully! The students were proud to share their cupcakes with their families.
It's Family Literacy Week
The Calgary Board of Education will celebrate Family Literacy week from January 26th to February 2nd to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. The theme of this year's Literacy Week is Learn to Be Green – Together, emphasizing the importance of nurturing both our planet and our community. Please see these posters to see ways you can help to be green.
To celebrate at Annie Foote School, we will be doing a DEAR Day! (Drop Everything And Read) On Thursday, January 30 we are asking that students have a book with them all day. Several times throughout the day we will play music indicating that students Drop Everything And Read for a few minutes. And….students are encouraged to dress up like a story book character. Let’s have some fun while participating in great learning!
Some of our students will be joining the CBE Superintendents with a Read Aloud on Monday, February 3.
Caution
With the melting and freezing taking place our school grounds are slippery. We ask that everyone takes extra caution when walking on the field. We especially ask that our students do not play on the ice.
