Dear Families,
Has spring arrived? We certainly hope so! Along with spring comes some muddy fields. It is very important that students continue to use OUTDOOR and INDOOR shoes to keep our building clean. Those students playing on the soccer fields especially need to have clean shoes in the school.
We were thrilled to host “Story Music”, a Calgary-based string quartet, to Annie Foote yesterday. The quartet, along with their animated singer/narrator, shared the story of Little Red Riding Hood with our Kindergarten – Grade 3 students. Students had the opportunity to learn about string instruments and some even got to try them! Special thanks to the Musicians Performance Trust Fund and the Calgary Musicians Association for providing this experience to our students.
Spring Concert!
Mark your calendars! We are thrilled to invite you to our Spring Concert on Thursday, May 29 at 5:30pm. All of our students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 will be performing. We will be providing more detailed information in the coming weeks.
Election
A reminder that our school is being used as a polling station on Monday, April 28. We are expecting increased traffic in the area so please be prepared for a longer drop off and pick up of your children.
Are you Moving?
This is the time of year when we begin planning for the fall. If your family is planning on moving to another area or out of the city? Please let us know as soon as possible by contacting the main office at 403-777-6680.
Kindergarten Registration
A friendly reminder that Kindergarten registration is open! We welcome any students who are 5 years old on or after January 1, 2026. Please register online or come and see us in the office J
Reading Give It a Shot
We are so pleased to partner with the Calgary Flames to support Reading Give it a Shot! Students will receive a reading log from their teacher on Monday. Students may read books, articles, magazines etc. For every 50 minutes a student reads, they get a bookmark. Great Calgary Flames prizes have been made available from our Parent Council. The halfway point is May 16. Any students in Grades 1-3 who read 300 minutes and students in Grades 4-6 who read 600 minutes are eligible for the first draw.
Let’s get reading!!!
Casino
Our casino is fast approaching and we still need volunteers. You do NOT need police clearance or prior experience to volunteer for the casino. Please read the information below:
The Parents of Annie Foote Fund Raising Society is excited to share that we have been granted another casino event at ACE CASINO AIRPORT (40 Aero Crescent NE) on SATURDAY, MAY 31 and SUNDAY, JUNE 1. We are eligible for an event like this every eighteen to twenty four months; the funds raised from events like this is what enables us to provide students with field trips, in class speakers, new technology, school resources, and more, at little or no cost to families.
This is where you come in – WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Volunteering at a casino can be a lot of fun, you’ll get a free meal (the food at this casino has been amazing in the past), and it’s a great way to meet other people from the Annie Foote School Community. We would love to see some new faces this year!
Information on the various positions will be available on the Annie Foote School website. Shifts each day will run from 11am-7pm, 6:30pm-3:30am, and 11pm-3:30am (this shift is only for the Count Room). We need nineteen volunteers (plus backups) each day. Please respond to this email, phone the office or reach out to Leslie at afsparentcouncil@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering!
School Council – We need you!!!
As we approach our final meeting in the year, our parent council would like to invite parents to join us for our final meeting of the year on May 22. Most of our members will be moving on at the end of this year, and without new additions to our council, the students of Annie Foote will miss out on all the amazing benefits our council provides. For only an hour or two of your time each month, all students will continue to enjoy low or no cost field trips, technology and resources. Thank you from your Parent Council.
