Happy Friday AFS Families!
The school is bustling with learning activities and projects. You may think we ‘wind down’ in June, but in many respects, we are very busy!
Read it to Win
We are so proud of our students for all of their reading. Congratulations to Ms. Honig’s class in Division 1 and Ms. Robb’s class in Division 2 for reading the most minutes. Many students were eligible for prizes today. Thanks to our generous parent council, Mr. Murray, Ms. Jupo and Ms. Robb for organizing our ‘Read it to Win’ program this year! Prizes!
Making Fossils!
As a follow up from their trip to Drumheller, the grade 4's used fractions to help them make a salt dough recipe. They had an opportunity to experience measuring, stirring and kneading the dough before using objects to create fossil like pieces of work. Salt Dough Fossils
Volunteer Tea
If you received an invitation from Ms. Hirji for the volunteer tea, we ask that you RSVP today.
Indigenous Peoples’ Month
All families are invited to attend Aboriginal Awareness Week in Calgary. Please see the website for events. https://www.aawc.ca/
Transportation Registration
If you live in Skyview and need to register for bussing, please register before Sunday, June 22. This is the deadline for students to be added to a route for the start of the next school year. Registrations after this date will be delayed. If you wait until September to register, it may take up to six weeks to be assigned a route.
All Sport One Day 2025
All Sport One Day is a fantastic, free sport discovery event designed specifically for children and youth aged 6 to 17. It offers a unique opportunity for young participants to try out a new sport or physical activity in a fun and supportive environment.
Whether your child is curious about learning a new skill or simply eager to get active, this event is an excellent way to introduce them to the world of sports without any financial commitment. By participating, kids can explore different sports, discover their interests, and potentially find a new passion, all while making new friends and staying active.
All Sport One Day 2025 will be held on Saturday, June 21 and Saturday, Aug. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
