Dear AFS Families,

Mr. Leonard’s class had a unique experience yesterday.  They had an online meeting with Dr. Brenna Biggs, an atmospheric chemist working with NASA.  She is working on a mission to detect minerals using a plane flying at 70, 000 feet!

Parent Society – We Need You!

As we approach our final meeting in the year, our parent council would like to invite parents to join us for our final meeting of the year on May 22. Most of our members will be moving on at the end of this year, and without new additions to our council, the students of Annie Foote will miss out on all the amazing benefits our council provides. For only an hour or two of your time each month, all students will continue to enjoy low or no cost field trips, technology and resources. Thank you from your Parent Council.

Spring Concert – Thursday, May 29  5:15pm

Our spring concert is fast approaching.  All students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 have been preparing their performance during their classes.  Therefore, all students are expected to participate.

Because of the size of the gym, we can only accommodate parents with siblings who are too young to stay at home alone.  We would love to invite other relatives and friends but there will not be enough space in our gym.

Doors open at 5:15.  All students will go directly to their classrooms, while family goes to the gym to take a seat.  The concert starts at 5:30 and will be approximately one hour in length.  Our audience is expected to stay for the whole concert.  At the end of the performances, parents will pick up their child(ren) from youngest to oldest from their classrooms.  Students cannot be picked up earlier unless there have been prior arrangements made before the day of the concert.  Children will not be dismissed from their classroom unless there is a parent to pick them up.

We are looking forward to a fantastic event!

Reading Give It a Shot

We are so pleased to partner with the Calgary Flames to support Reading Give it a Shot!  Students will receive a reading log from their teacher on Monday.  Students may read books, articles, magazines etc. For every 50 minutes a student reads, they get a bookmark.  Great Calgary Flames prizes have been made available from our Parent Council.   The halfway point is May 16.  Any students in Grades 1-3 who read 300 minutes and students in Grades 4-6 who read 600 minutes are eligible for the first draw.

Let’s get reading!!!
