Dear Families,
We managed to pack in a lot of learning and fun in our short week.  I was thrilled to see how many students had a ‘poem in their pocket’ on Thursday for National Poem in Your Pocket day.  A lucky winner in each class received a prize.  A very special thank you to the Temple 7-11 for delivering dozens of bananas for National Banana Day on Wednesday!  Our students greatly appreciated a healthy afternoon snack.

Mr. Clapperton’s class went back in time, to 1910, for an immersive day of learning! The classroom was transformed with ‘blackboards’ and chalk and desks in rows. The students made butter and played games from the early 1900s. See what it looked it here!
Spell-a-thon
The students’ spelling tests will take place on Monday and then it’s time to collect any money from pledges. Here are some reminders:
Prior to the spelling test, word lists will go home and each child can get pledges from friends and family. After the spelling test, your child’s test will be graded and you will be notified of how many words they spelled correctly (via agenda, email, note, etc.).
Timeline of Events:
- Week of April 8 – Word lists and pledge forms go home
- April 22 – Students write their spelling tests (in class)
- April 23 to April 30 – Pledge money & forms returned to child’s teacher at school
Any cheques should be made payable to “Parents of Annie Foote”
Deadline for all money to be collected is April 30, 2024.
Breakfast Club
Our breakfast club begins this Tuesday, April 23. Please see the letter for details. We are excited to welcome any children who are unable to have breakfast in the morning for various reasons.
Book Fair
Orders have arrived. If your child is waiting for an order, please have him/her see Ms. Hirji in the library.
Swimming
Our Grades 1-3 students are going to be receiving their swimming forms this week. We are in need of volunteers for each class. If you have security clearance and are willing to volunteer, please let your child’s teacher know. If there are not enough volunteers, students are unable to go swimming.
Spring Concert
Mark your calendars! We are having a spring music concert – the first since before COVID. J
“Spring into Fun” will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 5:30pm. More details will come but all students are going to performing that evening.
Have a great week,
Heather
