What a thrill to have our Breakfast Club started this week. As a reminder, the program is for students who have not had breakfast at home for a variety of reasons; however, the club targets those families who would most benefit from food support. Students who live in Temple must be at the school at 8:45am to take part in breakfast. Bus students coming from Skyview have the opportunity to ‘grab and go’ a breakfast and should go directly to the library when they arrive.
New Lunch Drop-off Procedure – Beginning Monday, April 29
We have had an increasing number of families dropping off lunches for their children and asking office staff to call and distribute the food. This results in disruptions to learning and school routines and takes our staff away from the work they have to the school. It is the responsibility of the parents to pack a lunch and snacks in their child’s backpack. In case of an emergency, the following procedure must be followed:
- There will be a lunch drop-off box just inside the front door of the school. Please ring the bell and place the lunch in the box.
- Clearly have the lunch labelled with your child’s first and last name and teacher’s name and room number.
- Make sure your child is aware that you will be dropping off a lunch.
- At 12:00 pm, a supervisor will deliver the lunches to the classrooms. No lunches will be distributed after 12:00pm
Spell-A-Thon
Congratulations to our students who studied hard and had great success on their spelling tests! Pledge forms are due no later than Tuesday. Every student must return the pledge form even if there was no money collected.
Swimming
Please hand in your child’s swimming forms as soon as possible to their home room teacher. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!!!! Please let the office or your child’s teacher know if you can help.
NED Show coming to Annie Foote!
Annie Foote School is excited to have NED's Mindset Mission live in person on Thursday May 2nd. This is a "Pay It Forward" program where schools provide the opportunity for students to purchase Yo-yo's after the assembly in order to support other schools to invite NED to visit and engage their students in learning about a Growth Mindset.
NED's Mindset Mission is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During the assembly, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.
Students of Annie Foote will have the opportunity to purchase their own Yo-yo’s. Purchasing forms will arrive home on Monday, April 29 and will be accepted until Tuesday May 7. On Friday, May 3 we will start to distribute the Yo-yo's to the classrooms as we will not receive the Yo-yo's until Thursday after the assembly. THE EXACT AMOUNT OF MONEY MUST BE SENT AS WE DON’T HAVE CHANGE.
Reading Give it a Shot!
It's that time of year again!
We will be starting Reading Give it a Shot on Wednesday, May 1 and it will end on June 12.
Our School Council has graciously donated the funds so that we will be able to purchase prizes from Pro Hockey Life again this year. Students will also win trading cards for each 50-100 min that they read.
Our school participates in this program as it helps to develop a love of reading and increases student motivation to read more. Reading is viewed as the best way for students to develop skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. By encouraging reading, this program opens the mids of children to a world of knowledge and imagination. It also encourages our students whom are learning the English Language.
