It’s hard to believe this is the last Weekly Update for the year!  What an honour and privilege to work with your children this year.  Watching the students grow in their learning (and in size!) is such a joy.  I’m proud of our hard-working, dedicated staff who provide children with opportunities to thrive.  We have much to celebrate this year – from our first spring concert since 2019, all of the field trips, the guests that have come into the classrooms, extra-curricular events such as Family Literacy and Numeracy Night & Alien-in-Line skating to using the many resources that have been provided by our generous School Council.  Our brand new projector screen in the gym was installed this week so we look forward to using it for our year-end assembly!   Thank you to all of our Annie Foote families for supporting your children as they continue “Learning for Life”!

Weaselhead

Grade 5 students visited Weaselhead flats last week as part of our wetlands Science unit. We did a guided walking tour of the park and learned about the importance of this wetland. Students got to find and analyze insect life living in the marsh. Thanks to Parent Council for funding this field trip.Weaslehead 

Indigenous Peoples Day

Our staff and students went out on the land today to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day.  We had a beautiful morning to practice circle teachings, use sit spots to journal, to make land art and observe nature with buddies.  It was wonderful to see a lot of orange on our field!

Please send a bag to school next week as your children will be bringing home all of their schoolwork and belongings.  Students will have the opportunity to look through Lost and Found on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Week Ahead

  • Tuesday, June 25 – Grade 6 celebration in the afternoon for students and teachers
  • Wednesday, June 26 – Sports Day!  Students will be outside for 1.5 hours in the afternoon.  Please dress appropriately, wear sunscreen, bring a hat!
  • Thursday, June 27 – year-end assembly, clean up, class farewells, early dismissal at 1:00 PM
