AFS Weekly Message Oct. 16-20 | Fun Lunch, Indoor Shoes, Snacks, Road Safety, Halloween

Happy Friday the 13th!   I am pleased to announce that we have hired new staff to begin teaching at Annie Foote next week.  Due to significant enrolment growth this fall, we are able to add a new Grade 2 class, a new Grade 6 class, support for Grade 5 AND a music teacher for Grades 1-6.   Ms. Saran is moving from her temporary grade 5 position to the new grade 6 class for the remainder of the year.

We extend a warm welcome to:

  • Payton McIntyre – Grade 2
  • Valerie Pedersen – Grade 5 (until Ms. Robb returns)
  • Christina Whitehead – Music and Grade 5 support

Healthy Hunger

Please see this link to learn about Healthy Hunger  and our upcoming Little Caesar's  lunch.

Indoor Shoes

All students are required to have a pair of indoor shoes to keep at school.  It is important that students have a pair of shoes to change into so they can participate in gym and to keep the school clean.  With rain and snow coming, we want to help our caretaker, Mr. Telford, as much as possible.

Snacks

Most teachers permit students to have a snack in the morning or afternoon.  We are finding that many students are coming to ask for snacks as they are hungry in the afternoon.  Please ensure that you have healthy snacks to sustain your child for the whole day.  They are growing!!!

Road Safety

Children look to their parents to learn traffic safety.  We are asking that you do NOT park “even for a minute” in the bus drop off area indicated by our signs.  Please use the crosswalks with your children and slow down as you pass by our patrollers.   Thank you J

School Council

The school council Annual General Meeting is on Thursday, October 19.  We would like to see many parents out to learn about the school and help make important decisions.  Hope to see you then!

Halloween

Please read the Halloween letter under Resources as your family prepares for October 31.

The Week Ahead

Thursday, Oct. 19 – School Council Meeting 6:30pm in the learning commons
Friday, Oct. 20 – No School for Students.  Non-instruction Day.

Sincerely,

Heather
