Dear AFS Families,

Winter has arrived!  Please ensure that you have a change of shoes/boots for your children.  There continue to be a number of students in Grades 5 and 6 without a change of shoes.  If you need support in finding boots for your children, please let us know.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Our upcoming conferences take place on:

  • Thursday, November 28:  4:30 – 7:30pm, pre-booked
  • Friday, November 29:  9:00 – 12:00pm, pre-booked

You will have received a message from the office with a link to book an interview with your child’s teacher.  We encourage you to attend!  If you have any difficulty booking an interview, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the main office.

Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians and teachers are able to communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.

Late Arrivals

We have had a very large increase in the number of students arriving to school late in the morning.  The winter weather is here to stay for a few months so we ask that you adjust your schedules and leave extra time to arrive at school.  Doors open at 8:55 AM and remain open until 9:05 AM.  We appreciate your efforts as late arrivals take a lot of time for the office to process and cause an interruption to the classes that have already begun on time.  Thank you.

Home Reading

Our home reading program has changed to align with CBE schools no longer using levelled assessment and intervention tools.  The CBE is now providing families with Home Literacy Resources.  These resources best support early and emerging readers.  There are many links to resources that you can enjoy with your children as you continue to support their literacy at home.  Home Literacy Support   Early Literacy Resources for Families   Oral Language Family Resource ​​​​​​​

Nations Vision

We are thrilled that Nations Vision has partnered with Annie Foote School again this year.  If you have not already returned the consent form, please print it and send it with your child by Wednesday. We hope you take advantage of this great program that offers FREE eye exams and FREE glasses if needed!
