• The CBE schools benefit from 10,000 volunteers a year.
• In June 2023, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) introduced a new system to process Police Information Checks (PICs).
• Significant changes:
  • Volunteers must now pay $21.25 (PIC application fee $15 plus CPS admin fee $6.25.
  • PIC letter is no longer sent directly to the CBE; applicant must download and submit to school.
  • If PIC letter is not downloaded by the applicant within 60 days, the applicant must reapply.
  • CRS is available to support schools in reviewing letters.
