Dear Families,

It has been a pleasure to welcome many new families this week to our Annie Foote community.  We appreciate how kind and welcoming our students have been to their new peers.  Today our Grade 6 students started to get to know their Kindergarten buddies!

Pick up and Drop Off

Attached are photos of our Division 1 Playground door line-ups.  We would kindly ask that when the teachers come out that parents stay behind the pylons.  This helps our teachers see your children and dismiss safely.  Please see the following pictures.

Meet the Teacher Night

We are excited to invite our families to ‘Meet the Teacher’ this coming Thursday, September 12 from 5:30 – 6:30. This is your opportunity to see your child’s classroom, tour the school and introduce yourselves to the teachers.

Admirable Use Policy

Today your child is coming home with a document about using school technology in a safe and respectful way. Please read this with your child, sign the document and return it to the teacher next week.  Thank you.

Smudging

I am happy to announce that we will be continuing smudging practices at Annie Foote School.  Beginning on Monday, September 9, our Indigenous students are invited to smudge on Monday afternoons at the school between 12:55 – 1:10.  The smudge space offered is in the area outside of the learning commons across from our naturalization area/garden.  When the weather cooperates, we will begin smudging outside.   Please see the smudging letter attached HERE

Breakfast Club at AFS

I am pleased to inform you that we are have a Breakfast Program at Annie Foote School.  Thanks to a generous donation, we are able to offer breakfast through Meals on Wheels to ensure students begin each day with the conditions they need to be successful learners.

Studies show that a healthy breakfast results in:

*improved student health

*increased academic achievement, creativity, problem solving skills and concentration

*decrease in negative behaviours.

Our program is available every school day. Temple students who wish to have breakfast should come through the front door at 8:45am and go to the Learning Commons.  The breakfast supervisor will have bins with a variety of breakfast options.  The students will eat breakfast until 9:00am in the Learning Commons where there is supervision. Skyview students coming from the bus are welcome to pick up food items from the bins in the Learning Commons on their way to class and are permitted to eat in their rooms.

There are many reasons children may not eat breakfast including the following:

We look forward to serving your children this year. You can see there will be some delicious, health-conscious options for kids!
